My packing list has arrived! I must admit, I was expecting a list that was a little more robust (really because I always overpack and I was hoping this would alleviate that issue). I was hoping to glean some clandestine clues from the packing list but no such luck. The type of plug adapter needed is used pretty much all over Europe, parts of Asia and South America so that doesn’t really narrow it down either. I am excited about the ear plug recommendation. As I’m traveling solo, I was hoping that my hotel would be in the middle of it all so I can soak up the atmosphere where ever I’m going. It’s a good general list of items frequently left at home so I do appreciate the list.

***Journee Post Ends, Random Musings begin***
Because I can’t help myself, I’ve been researching areas I think I might be going and things for solo travelers to do in said locations. While I’m being honest here, I’m going to open my envelope the morning of my trip. I’ll be too frazzled waiting until I get to the airport. This trip is pretty big for me on many different levels. While I consider myself to be well travelled, this is the first time I have vacationed for an entire week alone – in an unknown foreign country at that! I’m also a planner. I’m mildly addicted to Erin Condren and have a planner for just about everything. If I start my day without a “to-do” list, I feel untethered. Booking a vacation to an unknown destination is very much outside of my comfort zone. Since this has turned into my year of being uncomfortable (more on that later), this trip seems like an excellent way to kick things off.
I haven’t had the opportunity to travel abroad since right before COVID and I’ve missed the feeling you get landing in a new world. I love how traveling outside of your own region, be it to a new city or country, reminds you of how big the world is. It’s a humbling experience to realize just how small of a role the average person plays in the world on daily basis. We go about our daily lives as big fish in small ponds. Be it in the office, your home, church etc., you are part of a pond and once you get to be of a certain age, you tend to be a bigger fish in your local ponds. It’s nice to be reminded sometimes that’s there more to the world than your little corner of it!
