Time has simply flown by and I’m leaving for Portugal TONIGHT!  It feels like ages ago that I booked my trip – in reality it was only a month ago.  So far, Journee had done a great job making sure I’m prepared for my trip.  I have a list of essentials to bring, my itinerary and a very helpful guide created just for me that gives a little background on the places I will be visiting.

I woke up this morning and my boarding pass was preloaded on my phone; I was checked into my flight and my Journee Passport was fully functional.  I now have personalized recommendations for where to eat, detailed instructions about my daytrips – even a helpful guide on tipping customs in Portugal.

I’m not disappointed in the least that I peeked early.  As you know, I’m a planner and the fact that I left all of the planning – including the destination, up to someone else, I feel like I’ve already won!  The envelope was mocking me from my kitchen counter and after an anxious, no sleep night, I broke down and took a look.  I immediately felt better and have been enjoying my friends’ recommendations on what to see and where to eat.  For me, that’s part of the fun of travel.

Having friends and family to share in your excitement is special.  To me part of the magic of traveling in walking in the footsteps of others – be it your relative who visited in the 80’s or Conquistadors of ages long gone, there is something magical about travel and history.

To be honest, I’m really looking forward to feeling the vastness of the world.  Traveling puts so much into perspective and it’s nice to be a very little fish in a great big pond sometimes.

Next stop, Portugal!
