Half of the Clues Have Arrived!

At this point, I have received 4/8 clues so this seems like a great time to put together what I have:

It’s a sunny, foodie/bookworm paradise that’s diverse.  On the surface, these do not narrow it down, but when you hit the old google (not to google the clues – just to research).  I’ve narrowed it down to Spain, Portugal, Italy and still perhaps Southern France.  The canals mentioned in my original proposal seem to be throwing a lot of folks off – including myself!  More clues to come!
